The OneCALL Foundation, Incorporated has obtained recognition as a non-profit organization under the Georgia Non-Profit Corporation Code and as a tax exempt organization under section 501 (3) C of the Internal Revenue Code. Our Federal Tax ID number is 02-0789449

 

With the help of several like minded individuals, the Corporation is organized to raise public awareness and to provide charitable funds for the purpose of educational, medical treatments medical care and relief for victims and family members who are financially burdened. Recipients will come from all walks of life, with no discrimination being made due to religious, ethnic, political or cultural back grounds.

 

Our goal is to raise money through various fundraising activities; donations of cash or services, benefit dinners, silent auctions, solicitations and distribute them to people who have excessive needs greater than they are able to meet due to illness. 

 

This organization was founded out of a desire to assist a family that lives close by to one of our founders. This family has 2 terminally ill children, and had recently been denied additional Katie Beckett gap funds from the State of Georgia. Initially, I (an organizing member) asked co-workers to assist this family at Christmastime 2005. Almost immediately, we found more people with similar needs. We began exploring the possibility of doing something more lasting and perpetual in nature. The simple economic fact is that people will provide more assistance to a credible organization than they will some guy holding out a hat. 

 

In summer 2006, one of the aforementioned children fell ill again due to a staphylococcus (staph) infection. This required emergency surgery and another week in the hospital and more financial burden. 

Several people that lived in the neighborhood where this family resides were energized to do something to raise money to assist them. Recently, a benefit dinner was planned and the people involved went and solicited items needed for consumption. Many local Businesses were contacted asked make donations and several immediately jumped in to assist us in our efforts. Several businesses, however, were unable to assist our efforts due to the fact we had no Tax ID number. Many businesses had company policies which precluded them from helping anyone not organized as a 501 (3) C. Establishing an organization such as the OneCALL Foundation, Incorporated resolves this issue and will assist future efforts to raise money for other families in similar need.

 

With our 501 (3) C status, it is our intent to help anyone in a similar situation to the best of our ability. While we recognize we cannot meet every need- we can start by providing relief where we can, one family at a time.
